Cadet Williams, using an Adams Arms COR rifle that was provided to CCMU by Adams Arms as a team sponsor, fired the entire seven stage match and was only an amazing 7 points down at the end of the last stage. More amazing is that Cadet Williams fired his match fast enough to also placed 4th in Limited Division (the largest in the match), and 9th overall among all 128 shooters in all divisions.
The CCMU, with eight shooters attending the match, placed seven shooters in the top 20 in Limited, and three in the Top Ten. Finishing in 3rd place in Limited just ahead of Cadet Williams, and 7th overall, was sophomore Cadet John Burton '17 of the Woodlands, Tx. All of the cadets attending the match fired ammunition provided by team sponsor Freedom Munitions through Adams Arms COR rifles, rifles fitted with Adams Arms piston conversions, or AR-15 rifles fitted with Adams Arms VooDoo barrels.
The Match Director of the Pirates of Texas Carbine Championship ( http://www.texascarbine.com/index.html ) Mike McKinney remarked on Cadet Williams' accomplishment: "We at Texas Carbine strive to provide everyone with a safe and fun shooting experience. Although we are not a "Tactical Training School" we do try to stress accuracy within scenario based course designs. We believe that you can't fix the problem if you can't hit what you are shooting at...marksmanship is the application of fundamentals. Many people who shoot with us and are concerned for the safety of their families and themselves realize that a miss of the intended target may strike an innocent person. We want to reward those participants who strive to improve on their application of the Fundamentals of Marksmanship...to that end we award the "Most Accurate". We are proud that the CCMU participates in our matches, we know that their time is valuable and that they can only attend a limited number of events each year. Cadet Williams' achievement shows that you can go fast and still be accurate."
The next major match on the CCMU's schedule will be the SPP Collegiant National Championship at Ft Benning, Georgia, on March 21, 2015.
The CCMU is very grateful to its industry sponsors for their support of this team win. The cadets of the CCMU want to recognize Adams Arms for their continued support and their ongoing support of the 3Gun shooting sports. The team also recognizes its primary equipment sponsors Kryptek, Freedom Munitions, Apex Tactical, TRUGLO and GT Distributors for the cutting edge gear they provide.
